Dandiya Celebration 2012 with Navratri Special Food

Dandiya Raas is traditional folk dance tracing its origins to the Krishna and Radha romance from the Hindu mythology, we call it us raas leela. In many ways it is symbolic of Goddess Durga vanquishing demon Mahishasur. In Gujarat, along with Garba, another popular dance form, Dandiya Raas is performed through the nine nights of Navratri dedicated to the worship of the nine forms of Shakti. It is often referred to as the ‘sword dance’. Dance unfolds in pairs where a girl and boy dance to the beat of dhol.
